I'm always looking for new ways to shoot simple things in the confines of the space I have available. During the recent heat wave (Boise definitely wasn't the hottest place in the country, but I still didn't want to shoot outside mid-day if I didn't have to) I needed to shoot some photos of Justin Mclintock's YT. I had a few different ideas, but decided to play around with some colored gels and my little Halloween-Special smoke machine. I normally use the smoke machine for small parts and stuff where I can contain the little amounts of smoke it puts out, so this was definitely a challenge for it. Even more so considering the amount of air moving through the DEITY Warehouse every second on a hot day. I had to turn off the BIG ASS overhead fan for the duration of the shoot, not just because of the fog but also because it was threatening to blow away all my Profoto lights in their soft boxes. This was shot middle of the day in full light, so I ran the 3 B1X's at close to full power lighting up the bike, and then put my two Godox AD200Pro's in the back corners with Mag Mod gels on them. One small 2x3 gridded 2x3 box high over the bike, and two 1x3 gridded strip boxes, one on each side. I used the grids because I wanted to keep the light off of the floor and the back wall as much as possible.
